Development Diary #14: The Slow Climb

I'm somewhere between 50% and 60% finished the first Continua novel's first revision cycle. My editor is expecting this cycle to be complete for her review in May.

If I had foregone this deep revision, I believe I still could have delivered a good story to you last year. Instead, I decided I wanted to dive back in, rip it apart, and kick it up several notches. I'm a bit of a perfectionist, and I just didn't feel right about giving you something that I knew could be better. I have the skills and I knew what I needed to do to make it better.

This story is FAR over-budget, but I have zero regrets because it's shaping up to be the story I set out to tell.

I'm also working on another short story to hold you over until the novel is ready for you. If you're already in my reader group, you'll get that automatically in your email inbox. If not, you can join here.

I've also officially launched my small press. You can check that out at Emergent Realms (this is the facebook page). This is the press that my stories will be published under going forward. Toss it a like if you'd like to keep up with all the great stories the team is collaborating on.

I'm proud to be working with A. H. Serrano, A. R. Cullen, and Kate Watts to bring you guys the very best Fantasy, Science Fiction, and Horror novels you can find. We want to deliver an immersive experience that you don't get from most authors. The scope of what we're attempting at Emergent Realms is a little overwhelming, but we're dead set on transcending the current standard of storytelling.

I've also been working with Sterling & Stone on their podcasts and an epic Sci-Fi story world they're releasing this year. My piece of the project is still in development, so I can't say much about it yet. But you're going to love it.

I wish this update could have been something bigger, that something fantastic was ready for you right now. Instead, it's just a promise of greatness to come. But rest assured that it's coming.

Thank you for supporting me, and joining me on this journey. Knowing you're waiting for my next big project keeps me motivated to create the very best work of my life.
